An AuctionBytes reader just wrote, "On eBay Radio Griff just mentioned that Rob Chestnut is no longer the Director (title?) of Trust & Safety!" The "eBay Radio Ask Griff Show" is hosted by Jim "Griff" Griffith, Dean of eBay University. As far as I know, both Rob Chesnut and Bill Cobb (prez eBay Marketplaces North America) took a sabbatical in July. eBay lets long-time employees take a month (or longer) break. Another person wrote on the eBay discussion boards, "Griff just announced on his radio show that Rob Chesnut is out as the head of Trust & Safety. I had previously read that he was on sabbatical. A replacement has not been named." We're tracking down this rumor, stay tuned! Update: Griff kindly wrote right back in response to my email inquiry and said: "Rob is still with eBay. He is on Sabbatical. In his stead, his team is handling Trust and Safety until his return." What was it that Mark Twain said? "The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated." (Bartletts) I suspect no one will be satisifed until both Rob and Bill's voices are heard on Griff's show again. |
