eBay Live 2008 to Be Hosted in Chicago

It looks like Midwesterners will get their crack at hosting eBay Live in 2008. We've confirmed that next year's convention will be taking place in Chicago, June 19th-21st at McCormick Place West. eBay already has a block of rooms reserved at the adjoining Hyatt McCormick through the Jack Morton Worldwide agency from June 13th through the 23rd, which should cover the Developer's Conference prior to eBay Live. McCormick Place West is a brand new facility opening this year.

Chicago is a great convention city, and an eBay Live in the middle of the country is long overdue. So for those of you who love deep-dish pie, Da Bears and Da Cubs - see you in the Windy City next year!

Well it is nice they finally decided to come to my home town. It should be interesting.
We will not be in Boston this year. As you and I spoke before about this I am anticipating a big announcement in Bean Town on a potential merger that you gave mention to of my thoughts on this in one of your previous columns. I know there were many of us last year in Vegas that knew Chicago was on the agenda in a couple of years. I thought it would have been near O'Hare at the Rosemont convention center, right near O'Hare, where the Hobby show is every year. A lot easier to get to than McCormick place but then again the Auto show has been there every year for as long as I can remember.
Ina, you forgot to mention Da Bulls and the winning baseball team in Chicago: The White Sox. LOL

As for merger rumors...

Soon it will be MicrohooBay vs Gootube.

Ebay and Yahoo marge, then Microsoft buys them.

Just a guess.

I started looking at hotel rates, and holy cats. I thought Boston was expensive. This looks even more expensive than Boston if you want to be within 5 miles of the convention centre!

Couldnt make it this year to Ebay Live 2007 BUT will make plans for Chicago no matter what it cost to get there from North Dakota..
Were excited a group of us to start workin on headin that way..

Chicago is a nice place to have a party but not for a few days... I would like to see it in Beautiful Downtown Phoenix.. Bring it back west for 2009 for me and mine we probably won't be making it unless the fees go down... HAHA. See you in '09

I have attended three ebay lives, one in las vegas, one in san diego and one in New Orleans. Chicago is too expensive

The Hyatt is attached to McCormick Place. Chicago has a very large public transportation system. You can get to McCormick Place from anywhere in the city..and most suburbs for that matter using public trans. The person who said the only hotels in a 5 mile radius are too expensive..there's no reason you need to be that close the bus or el will get you there. It is NOT to difficult to get around in Chicago. I live in Chicago and I don't own a car nor do I want to. For $75/month I can get anywhere I need to go. Try paying for gas, insurance and a car payment with $75.
Chicago is great. There's a lot to do and a lot of free or cheap stuff to do.

Chicago also has a very good tranist system. Google and the CTA (Chicago Transit Authority www.yourcta.com)have teamed up to make trip planning easier. Like melissa said do you yourself a favor and don't look for a hotel within 5 miles. You wouldn't need to be in the heart of downtown. Chicago
