eBay Says No Relist Credits for Fixed-Price Listings

eBay announced another rash of changes today. Beginning October 22, eBay will no longer offer Insertion Fees credits when Fixed Price items are relisted, due to its new 30-day format. "Credits will still be issued for unpaid items and are now being extended to single quantity Store Inventory Format listings if there is an unpaid item. Note that relist credits for Auction-style listings will continue."

Other changes include a new look for eBay's product pages; a free-Subtitle promotion for Media listings through end of year when using pre-filled item info; Featured First, a new listing upgrade (Since there's no guarantee yours will appear, I'm tempted to call it Featured First Roulette!); and Best Match is extended to Store Inventory listings.

We'll be reporting this in tomorrow's Newsflash, let us know what you think of these changes!

Dinesh, where do you come up with this garbage? What does it all mean? Let's just make things more difficult in order to do business with you. Give me a brake!

I guess you needed something to trigger a few more "glitches" to fall back on and rip off sellers...

anyone else notice that your start up page features one of your items. im talking about the random pull up of items it changes every time you sign on. its always been there but ive never seen any of my items posted befor now i see at least one every time i sign in. waist of space seeing how i cant buy my own item.

You tell us how much of an item you own and how many you want to make "visible" to the public. When a buyer makes a purchase from the listing we'll automatically refresh that item's available inventory to the requested amount.

Its really unreal what people post as replies. If you have criticism, at least make it productive. The first reply is just negativity without any sort of productive comment.

I'm not surprised you don't get a relist credit. Works the same way with the Store format. You don't get relist credit for that. And since FP30 is the replacement to Stores, makes perfect sense to me.

All you haters, go out and work at McDonalds. You're not cut to be self-employed.

if i actually thought subtitle was useful i might be mad at the possibility of having to revise several hundred items that i moved to FP30 in the past month. i swear that they plan this stuff for maximum waste of time.

not to mention just another slap at pre-1970 books which don't have isbns. a lot of books were published before 1970.

All these changes are well thought out, a benefit for all sellers, geared to increasing traffic and sales.

Way to go eBay!!!!!

Do you not think that sellers are not tired of all the changes and so called disrputive innovation? Do you think sellers like paying more and more fees only to see Best Match ruin their businesses? With what eBay has put sellers through this year why would sellers be anything but negative.

It's true that FP30 is being run the same as stores (except for the listing price), but EVERYONE doesn't HAVE a store.

During the past month A LOT of people have been coming on the eBay Forums asking WHAT SEEM TO BE a lot of stupid questions about FP30.

''Stupid'' that is, to us ebay store owners, who've been operating under eBay's rules for many years. But not ''stupid'' to someone who has never dealt with that format before.

Also, just because we store owner have accepted eBay's store rules for many years, doesn't make them logical or right.

I don't understand this sentence. Can someone help me out:

It sounds like it is either saying:

1. that credit has not been given previously for unpaid store items. (This is not true, as I can unfortunately attest. I frequently received credit for UPstoreI's.)
2. OR that NOW store owner will not be able to recoup FVF's for items, which were part of a multiple store listing!?! (That doesn't make sense ... but there's a lot of that going around on eBay these days.)

Can anybody explain this sentence? I've read it numerous times.

Why is it that all new ebay rules and posts I read here long before ebay sends us an email about them? I'm sure they have the ability to email whatever they are posting as soon as they post it. Sometime this evening, I will probably get an email telling me about this.

Warning! Check your auto re-list! Items may mysteriously renew themselves after the 30 day expiration.

I really couldn't figure out why this was happening. It all makes perfect sense now. When eBay wanted me to copy and paste 50+ items that had mysteriously relisted, and send them off to be ''evaluated'' - well, we all know what that means.

I couldn't spend 2 days copying and pasting all those item numbers!! I have emails to answer, customers to wait on, and scammers too!

They win! They get the money. Multiply that by millions of re-lists, that happen every day. Can you say ''bring me a rake?''

People don't have the time to work for eBay (without a paycheck) finding their glitches!

This company has fallen apart before our very eyes. Witness the end of an era.

I had ALREADY noticed on american eBay, that when I look at items in a seller's store, Best Match is the default. So this is NOT NEW ... eBay is just getting around to mentioning it.

(I have't done research using different browers on all ebays (including foreign ones) to find out if it happens every time. But it's ALREADY being used ... or at least being beta tested ... kind of like anonymized email is being randomly applied ALREADY.)

sick and tired - Unfortunately this has nothing to do with your items being seen in searches ... just how potential customers see your items in your store.

It is only bad news, if by chance your potential customers want to search by Ending Soonest, or ''Newly Listed'' OR if your customer don't want eBay to tell them WHAT THEY WANT TO BUY.

I have all my Fixed Price Listings set for ''Good 'til Cancelled (Renew every 30 days)'' ... just like in my store.

Is it possible that you chose this option when you listed your Fixed Price Auctions?

More and more I can’t help but feel that John Donahoe’s role is to destroy eBay. Literally.

If his role was to actually guide eBay to greater heights, he has failed miserably.

If his role is indeed to destroy eBay, he is doing an excellent job.

Every change seems designed to narrow the scope of Sellers. Little by little; bit by bit.

eBay has become the albatross around eBay’s own neck. Sellers great and small, have become more trouble than they are worth. Lawsuits, scams, stock fluctuations, Unpaid Items on the rise, governmental regulations right around the corner, wanting to rid themselves of having to offer even the pretense of “Customer Service”...

Not to mention all of the big wigs that might have had any knowledge of how to attempt to repair this catastrophe, have abandoned ship, some of them in the last few months.

Time to disrupt the disruptive innovation... Don't you think?

P.S. They still refuse to stop S&H Gougers. No matter how blatant. I have reported this Seller over and over, and they refuse to stop him.

eBay hoped that the DSR's would control the S&H Gougers. God forbid that they would actually pay live employees to moniter that.

The entire Community Development Team was laid off a week ago, except good ole boy, Griff.

I'm interested the inventory management feature you describe. One of the biggest problems in relisting on eBay if you sell multiples is that you have to constantly recount inventory. This is difficult if you stock hundreds of products, each with quantity on hand from 1-500. With hundreds of listings and all the non-paying buyers or those who wait 10 or more days to pay, it's nearly impossible to track inventory if you are a high volume seller.

Let's face it: an item isn't really SOLD until there's a checkout and PAYMENT.

This is where eBay has missed the boat and AMAZON TOTALLY RULES!!!! Amazon has a shopping cart checkout system. It's a much more professional and effective system for buyers and sellers alike.

Buyers who click BUY NOW on eBay sometimes immediately realize they've clicked wrong and can't get out of the contract. It's the seller who suffers a low DSR or negative rating, but it's the buyer who made the mistake and eBay who has an antiquated system.

If I could change one thing about eBay, I'd say stop the insanity with beating up the sellers and start treating sellers with the respect they deserve. Fix it so there's a Shopping Cart checkout system!!!! This would go a long way towards a POSITI.VE USER EXPERIENCE for all
