Perminate Link for eBay to Leave Links Policy Alone   eBay to Leave Links Policy Alone

The good news is, eBay announced today it would leave its links policy as is, after having delayed implementation earlier this month.

The bad news is, many users have probably already gone through a tedious process of revising listings along with Store pages and About Me pages to comply with the policy that was originally going into effect this month.

Would have been difficult for eBay to justify why it allows buy.com to have links plastered all over its listings if it didn't allow other sellers to have any links.

It's just too bad sellers spent so much time and energy on this. I posted an appropriate video and lyrics at: http://genuineseller.com/ebay-links-policy-jerking-back-and-forth/

Those Bastards. They drove good services out of business, like ebaycounters.com, and now they announce ''nothing is going to change''.

What idiots.

eBay has officially learned what the pain threshold for eBay members are.

Too bad they couldn't take this attitude to the feedback system.

HA!  Because they've been going back on so many things, and also because they "postponed" it, I decided to "postpone" all that work until August.  YA DIDN'T FOOL ME THIS TIME, EBAY!!!

We removed all our links prior to July -- the one that gives cash back at eBay was a good one. We removed all our listings too. TRUTH IS WE'RE TOO SCARED TO SELL ON EBAY! It's still fun to buy on eBay, but I wouldn't sell on eBay until eBay gives respect to the real customers they serve (THE SELLERS).

Let me draw a simple diagram for eBay:
eBay ----> Sellers ----> Buyers

Q. Who pays the insertion fees?
A. Sellers

Q. Who pays the listing fees?
A. Sellers

Q. Who provides the products?
A. Sellers

Q. Who ships the products?
A. Sellers

Q. Who is eBay's customer:
A. Sellers

So a little link here and there just makes it easier for sellers to communicate with their clients. No harm done. Our link helped buyers buy on eBay. I think eBay realized that they caused lots of angst with sellers who used links appropriately.

All the best to you surviving sellers!

How nice.  This greedy company saved themselves the trouble of taking down my listings for not bending over for another stupid policy so they can continue to collect their fees on the ever decreasing number of items that sell.
Smart. EBay actually managed to keep my products on their site for a little while longer.  I was prepared not to relist anything they removed due to this policy change.  Too bad they'll never be the great value to sellers that they once were.

Remember this, eBay... the greedier you get, the more you'll lose.  That's a promise I'll keep.

So big of eBay, huh?
Neutrals became neutral again and now a no policy change is seen as a great step.  It appears that the best eBay has to offer the sellers (their customers) anymore is when they do nothing for them.

And again, eBay proves that its management has little or no foresight.  There are some glaring examples of this over the years starting with the original Checkout being mandatory, nearly trashing Half.com and on and on.  Wouldn't you think after 10 years at least a few of the executives would have some clear understanding of eBay...and yet, they prove daily that they simply do not know or appreciate the workings of their own company.

Sad.

And what they don't know about their customers (sellers) is tragic....and will, quite soon I think, prove to be their undoing.

Pitiful.

What eBay has perfected is and endless stream of ways and means to inconvenience, mislead and even insult intelligent sellers.  And, of course, cost every seller lots of time and money in the process.

I know of no other company anywhere that operates with such lack of insight as eBay.  In most any other company of equal size the management at eBay would be unacceptable.   Why does eBay settle for such substandard performance in its management?  It's a mystery.

Well, they do seem to be backpeddling a little...and well they should.  I think they learned a hard lesson with the huge seller in Australia who deflated and ran off leaving ebay holding the bag.  Perhaps they will again see us small potatoes in a new light!  All I can say is they better because with each new pompous and wacky policy they've come out with they've lost more and more sellers - and with them go the buyers!  You'd have to be dense as concrete not to see it - apparently ebay is finally getting around to seeing it.  One can only hope!

Did somebody kick somebody in the head?  Has eBay seen the light?  I did nothing in removing links from all of my items and feel that if eBay wanted them removed they could have done it themselves!  So they can kiss my a** with their nonsense rules.  What probably happened is that they realized  that most sellers were not complying and they were going to have to end a few hundred thousand listings.  Way to go eBay, you guys are so great!!!  Now all you have to do is fix all the other stuff you broke!!!!!!! IDIOTS!!!

What a waste of time and money! I am so tired of this jerking around. I can't even run my business because of the constant state of trial and error testing going on at Ebay.

Ebay is no better than the crooks it tries to kick off the site. They make their money off of these little tweaks. When is this madness going to STOP?

If Ebay can extract just a few dollars from every seller by making tweaks and then taking them back, they can reap in millions. This must be great for investors! Whoever would imagine a company making it on sound business practices.

Investors are to blame. I'm tired of blaming Ebay.  It doesn't matter how a company makes projections, as long as they make them. It's the U.S. way and is the reason why U.S. business is defunct!

There is no room for common decency anymore. For each his own, even if it means selling out your country. I am afraid it's too late. Capitalism was good till they system was manipulated and expectations were set based on corruption, greed and false numbers.

Ughh!

I completely agree with Keith.  All they have to do is filter out ''  ...  '' out of the auction, about me page, etc.  It would be so much easier to just have eBay automate the process and replace it with a message ''Link removed by eBay''.

I don't allow links in my feedback but I also have a mechanism to disallow them in the first place.

(ok the dots above was me trying to put a sample HTML code for a link but AuctionBytes removed it, which is kind of my point)

"and we’ve been meeting with additional stakeholders to understand how our policy update would impact them."

translated:  buy.com didn't like the new links policy.

don't fool yourself by thinking that this was done for any other reason, or because most sellers didn't like it.

Gee, thanks a lot ebay.  Since I am about off the site, it like all the policies that you will now backpedal on, don't mean a hill of beans.  Bad, arrogant management, started with let's buy something cause I don't know crap about the auction/store site Whitman and taken to new heights (depths) by Jumpin' John, **** disrupt***Don****disrupt***a hue hue hue....wonder why you've got problems, try ...disrupt....communicating with  your clients....sellers....bye Ebay, been bad to know ya....Rather Russ
